Why Does My Invoice Show $0.00?
Find the missing billing rate and fix the invoice before you send it

If lines on your invoice come out at $0.00, Time Tracker couldn't find a billing rate for that time, so it multiplied the hours by zero. Set a rate in one of the places below, then create the invoice again.
Where the Rate Comes From
Time Tracker uses the most specific rate it finds, in this order:
- Project rate: on the project's Billing tab.
- Client rate: on the client's Other Details tab, under Override user rates and set a specific rate for this customer.
- Activity rate: Admin > Settings > Customize > Custom Lists, in the activity list's Rate column.
- User rate: the person's Standard Billing Rate in Admin > Manage Users. See Setting User Billing Rates.
If none of these is set, the line is $0.00.
Fixing It
- On the invoice, open Select Invoice Entries and look at the Rate column. It shows the rate each line actually used, so you can see which ones are $0.00.
- Set a rate. The simplest start is a standard billing rate for each user. Then add client, project, or activity rates only where they differ. See Setting Client Billing Rates and Overrides.
- Delete the $0.00 draft invoice and create it again. The new rates are used.
Note: Changing a rate doesn't reprice entries already on a finalized invoice. If the client hasn't received it yet, unfinalize it first, then delete it and create it again. If they already have it, add the missing amount with an adjustment. See
Creating Billing Adjustments.
Common Problems
- Only one person’s time is $0.00. That user has no standard billing rate, and no project, client, or activity rate covers their work.
- Only one client’s invoices are wrong. Check that client's Other Details tab and its projects' Billing tabs. A more specific rate beats the user's rate.
- You want to catch this before invoicing. Glance at the Rate column every time you select entries.
