Attaching Receipts to Expenses
Keep a copy of every receipt with its expense, from the web or your phone

Attach the receipt to the expense itself. Then the backup is right there when your approver checks it, a client asks for it, or tax time comes around.
On the Web
- Create the expense, or open one you've already entered. See How to Enter an Expense.
- In the Attachment area, choose the file from your computer. Photos (JPG, PNG), PDFs, and other common document files work.
- Save the expense. The file stays attached to it.
Approvers can see which expenses have a receipt: look for the paperclip on the Expenses tab of Manage Team Entries. See Approving Expenses.
On Your Phone
- Start a new expense in the mobile app.
- Tap the camera icon and take a photo of the receipt.
- Save the expense. The photo is attached and syncs to the web.
This is the quickest way: take the photo right after you pay, while the receipt is in your hand. See Mobile: Attaching a Receipt Photo.
Common Problems
- The photo is hard to read. Take it again in better light. A blurry receipt won't help in an audit.
- The receipt came by email. Save the email (an airline confirmation, a software bill) as a PDF and attach it on the web.
- Nothing happens when you click Expense Entry. The form opens in a new browser window, and your browser blocked it. Allow pop-ups for secure.ebillity.com, then try again.
