Client Statements
Send a client one document with all their invoices, payments, and balance
Applies to: Premium · LawBillity
A statement lists everything on a client's account for a date range: invoices, payments, adjustments, and the balance. Send one when a client has several unpaid invoices, asks for their billing history, or questions a charge.
Creating a Statement
- Go to Billing > Statements.
- Choose the client. You can pick several clients at once.
- Set the date range. Invoices, payments, and adjustments in that range are included.
- Click Send to email the statements, or Print All to print them.
When a Statement Helps
- Collections: one statement works better than several reminders.
- Client requests: for their records or their own approvals.
- Year end: a full-year statement for each client.
- Disputes: both sides see the whole account history.
Common Problems
- An invoice or payment is missing. Check that the date range covers it.
- The balance looks too low. Draft invoices aren't counted until they're finalized. Finalize them, then create the statement again. See Finalizing and Sending an Invoice.
- A credit isn’t explained. Adjustments show with the description you entered, so write a clear one. See Creating Billing Adjustments.
- It went to the wrong person. Update the client's Billing Contact tab. See How to Create a New Client.
