Importing and Exporting Calendar Events (.ics)
Bring in events from another calendar, or share yours as an .ics file
Applies to: Workforce · Premium · LawBillity
An .ics file is the standard calendar file most calendar apps can open. Use one to bring a schedule into Time Tracker, or to share your Time Tracker calendar with someone who doesn't use Time Tracker.
Importing Events
- Open the Calendar.
- Click Import.
- Choose the .ics file on your computer. Google Calendar, Outlook, and Apple Calendar can all save one.
- The events appear on your Time Tracker calendar.
Imported events are there for reference. They don't become time entries, but you can click a slot to log time for them.
Exporting Events
- Open the Calendar and click Export.
- Choose the date range.
- Download the .ics file, then import it into Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, or any app that reads .ics files.
When This Helps
- A new employee can import their existing schedule so they see their commitments next to their time.
- A colleague without a login can see your schedule from an exported file.
- Switching from another time tracking tool: export its calendar as .ics and import it here.
Common Problems
- Imported meetings didn’t turn into time entries. That's expected. Click the slot to log the time. See Using the Time Tracker Calendar.
- You want your Google or Outlook meetings to keep showing up. An .ics file is a one-time copy. Connect your calendar instead. See Syncing with Google Calendar or Outlook.
