Mobile: GPS Tracking
Understand when the app records your location, and fix it when it doesn't
Applies to: Workforce · Premium · LawBillity (mobile app)
If your admin turned on GPS tracking, the app records where you are when you start and stop work. You'll know it's on when you see a GPS pin at the top right of the New Time Entry screen.
What Gets Recorded
- Your location when you start a timer or clock in.
- Your location again when you stop the timer or clock out.
- While you're on the clock, the app updates your location about every 10 minutes. It keeps tracking without a signal and syncs later.
- Only admins can see location data, for example in the GPS Report on the web or on the On the Clock map. See Mobile: Seeing Who's On the Clock.
Allowing Location
GPS only works if the app is allowed to use your location. If your admin set location to Required for you, you can't enter time in the app until it's on.

Common Problems
- Your location is wrong or jumps around. Step outside, away from tall buildings, and wait a moment. GPS is less accurate indoors, in tunnels, and in dense city areas.
- There’s no GPS pin. Your firm doesn't use GPS tracking, or location is off for the app. Check your phone's settings as above.
- The app won’t let you enter time. Location is Required for you. Turn on location services for the app.
- You’re setting up GPS or geofencing for your team. See GPS Tracking & Geofencing.
