How to Enter Time for a Previous Day

Go back and add time you forgot to log yesterday or last week

Applies to: Workforce · Premium · LawBillity

Forgot to log time yesterday? Go back to that day on your timesheet and enter it the same way you'd enter today's time.

On the Weekly Timesheet

  1. Click Entries > Weekly Timesheets.
  2. If the day is in an earlier week, click the left arrow next to the date range until you get there.
  3. Type your hours in that day's column.

On the Daily Timesheet

  1. Click Entries > Daily Timesheets.
  2. Click the left arrow next to the date until you reach the day. You can go back as far as you need.
  3. Add your entry as usual.

Timers always record the current date, so for time you've already worked, type it in instead. You can also click an empty slot on the Calendar to log time for that day. See Using the Time Tracker Calendar.

After You Add It

New entries start as Pending. If your firm uses approvals and you've already submitted that week, submit the new entry too, or it won't be approved with the rest. See Submitting Time for Approval.

Common Problems

  • You can’t add or change time on that day. The day may be locked in Entries > Lock Time Periods, or the entries are already approved. Locked days block new and changed time and expense entries for that user, but admins and managers can still add or edit entries for them, or unlock the days. Approved entries have to be rejected by the approver first. See I Can't Edit a Time Entry.
  • You put the time on the wrong day. Change it while it's still Pending. If you've already submitted it, see Editing, Deleting, or Taking Back a Time Entry.
